To their credit, they DO advance and help me out, but they get bogged down a mile away as soon as they hear an enemy shot. I tried to give them orders (as in multi-player) but nothing worked. HOLY SHIT!!! My fellow troops are dumb as bricks. With that said, with a new rig, I wanted the MAX number of AI bots on the battlefield, and upped the ratio of enemy vs friendly bots. The sense of being in a true ongoing battle, real shots and explosions sounding in the distance, the feeling when an enemy managed to break your defenses and pull your troops back, it was the beginning of a great series (that would reach its high point with BF2 imo). It was my first taste of PC WWII action (after the Medal of Honor games on PS1) and I was floored. I played it a loooong time before, and my memory was fresh on the arduous uphill battle to capture that last outpost on Omaha Beach the frenzy action of fighting off the incoming Japanese on Wake Island the rush of fighting in the streets of Berlin.
Had the game before, but lost some of the disks, until I found the pack that included BF1942, Secret Weapons, Road to Rome, and Battlefield Vietnam all for $9.99!! I couldn't say no.ĭamn I love this game.
